'Modern Family' Will Kill Off a Character This Season

Modern Family creator warns that a 'significant' character will die this season

One of the most beloved shows on TV will soon be down a star, as Modern Family bosses have revealed they will be killing off a "significant character" this season.

But he told EW that it would be a "significant character on the series" and that the person's death "will be a moving event - and an event that has repercussions across several episodes".

The suspense is already driving us nuts! Because Lloyd teased that the death is something "the whole family will have to deal with", the general consensus is that the family member who will die will be DeDe Pritchett, the only non-major-character who touches every branch of the Pritchett-Delgado-Dunphy-Tucker tree.

'But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it'. The cast also includes Sofía Vergara, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Ariel Winter, Nolan Gould, Rico Rodriguez, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, Jeremy Maguire. The upcoming Season 10 is the second year of a two-year pickup, and the network has been eyeing an 11th. I hope there is.

Well, one of our fave characters is going to get killed off... 'So our standpoint was, "Well, if we can do another season, we may as well. I'm hoping that we have some news on that [soon], and if it winds up that we tried and just couldn't make it work, we will have a great final season for sure".

As if that tease wasn't tantalizing enough, there's still the open question of whether or not "Modern Family" will be renewed for an 11th season, or if it will end after its contract expires with this 10th outing.
