Marvel Developing MCU TV Shows For Loki, Scarlet Witch And More

Tom Hiddleston plays Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Marvel

It's about to get a bit harder for fans of Marvel's Loki and Scarlet Witch to resist signing up for Disney's upcoming online streaming service! The report says separate shows centered on Loki and Scarlet Witch are in development, with Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen likely to be reprising their roles-that's right, these standalone series will find the actors from the films filling the same roles.

Marvel and Disney have confirmed exactly none of this, but plans will begin to leak out more and more as Disney's late 2019 launch date approaches. While these projects are still in the early stages, each series is expected to receive between six to eight episodes. So while this is still floating in the realm of vaporware and could turn to dust before ever becoming reality, it's certainly an exciting concept. They want to focus more on second tier characters. Get that leaflet campaign started now. Moreover, though sources close to the production are staying mum on the cost of the programming, the budgets are expected to be hefty rivaling those of a major studio productions.

There hasn't been any details released on what the shows will be about, whether they will be prequels or sequels (after all, the events of Avengers: Infinity War could put a spanner in the works if we're heading into sequel territory), nor have any writers or directors been attached.

In a bombshell move, Disney will expand upon some of its most popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe with its forthcoming streaming service Disney Play.

Furthermore, Marvel Studios' boss Kevin Feige is expected to have a hands-on role in the development of these shows. While other Marvel-based TV shows produced by Disney, including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And hey, who knows - maybe they'll give Hawkeye his own series next.

So what do you think folks?

How do you feel about the potential Loki and Scarlet Witch limited series?

Disney will need powerhouses like that to draw new viewers, especially in a marketplace already crowded by Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and other streaming services.
