Jordan Cast as John Clark in Tom Clancy's 'Rainbox Six' Film Series

Michael B. Jordan to Star in Paramount's Tom Clancy Film Series

Jordan, who played Killmonger in Marvel's Black Panther, has been signed by Paramount Pictures to star in two Tom Clancy films.

The Clark projects mark Jordan's second film series, along with "Creed", that isn't comic book-related - an impressive feat for any movie star today.

Without Remorse will be the first of the two movies to be released, and it will serve as an origin story for Jordan's lead character. The planned adaptations include Clancy's 1993 novel Without Remorse, showing Clark's origins in the Central Intelligence Agency while combating street criminals on the streets of Baltimore, and 1998's Rainbox Six which has Clark lead a team of special forces soldiers in counterterrorism missions around the world. Clark has appeared in over 17 Clancy novels.

John Clark has always been a staple of Clancy's works, having appeared in a total of 17 novels since his debut in 1988's "The Cardinal of the Kremlin".

The studio has been trying for years to get adaptations off the ground for both "Without Remorse" and "Rainbow Six", with Chris McQuarrie and Ryan Reynolds circling the projects at one point. Paramount is still looking for potential writers and directors for Without Remorse which will be the first film of the two, leading into Rainbow Six. Clark was largely used as a supporting character to Jack Ryan, until he was given his own adventure in "Without Remorse".

Paramount neared a deal to create a Without Remorse film back in 2012 and began exploring a Rainbow Six movie in 2017, but nothing came of either until now. Akiva Goldsman, the man behind the current iteration of the Transformers movie universe, is "spearheading this endeavor as the film's main producer". It's been a long time since he read Rainbow Six, and he now remembers the video games more than the book. If Paramount's new flicks decide to acknowledge Siege's popularity, we could see Michael B. Jordan shooting baddies through walls or breaching the floor below to save a hostage.
