Kemi Adeosun, Nigeria's finance minister has resigned her position over claims of certificate forgery uncovered by a local portal, Premium Times.

Earlier, NAIJ.com reported an anti-corruption group, Say No Campaign, called for probe into the certificate scandals involving Senator Ademola Adeleke and the minister of finance, Adeosun.

The minister, according to the report, had reportedly felt that her position is becoming untenable and is hurting President in Muhammadu Buhari in the run up to the 2019 election.

"The PDP is also aware of plots by the Federal Government to secretly move her out of the country, and for that, we urge the worldwide community to be at alert and ensure she is repatriated to face justice in Nigeria should the Federal Government succeeds in its devious plan".

"I have, today, become privy to the findings of the investigation into the allegation made by an online medium that the certificate of exemption from the National Youth Service Corporation".

"This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration's focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign", said Adeosun, appointed by Buhari in 2015. She also instituted a whistle-blower policy and helped push reforms to boost Nigeria's tax collection to increase non-oil revenue as the West African nation seeks to wean itself off oil.

He added that the President also approved that the Minister of State Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, should oversee the Ministry of Finance.
