Brand New Characters And Gameplay Revealed For Death Stranding

Death Stranding's TGS Trailer Has A Cool New Character Voiced By Troy Baker

Last night during the final hours of Tokyo Game Show, Hideo Kojima and his studio Kojima Productions revealed a brand-new trailer of Death Stranding, and in the process unveiled a new character and teased a never before seen boss fight.

Highly anticipated: Few games have managed to generate so much hype while remaining shrouded in mystery quite like Death Stranding.

The character appears to look similar to Skull Face from Metal Gear Solid V but it is merely the design for it. Baker's character begins to channel the underworld, a series of screaming souls reaching out from the ground beckon towards him, before unveiling the new beast: a golden-masked (he's got a style, I'll give him that) lion-type creature, a putrid black substance oozing from every pore. Even though the reveal trailer didn't show any gameplay, a naked Norman Reedus, weird babies, odd oil, and floating creatures, all combined with a haunting soundtrack, ensured it was the talk of the conference.

With the Metal Gear Solid series, Hideo Kojima created an incredible track record for the weird, and his first game post his painful break-up with Konami looks set to continue that trend. He joins the aforementioned Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo del Toro, Lea Seydoux, and Lindsay Wagner on a who's who list of talent from stage and screen. Sony is publishing the game and also financing it.

We know Death Stranding is an action game with "some degree of freedom", and that it uses Guerilla Games' Decima Engine.
