White House Doubles Down On Omarosa's 'Lack Of Character'

‘Meet the Press’ Plays Tape of John Kelly Firing Omarosa Manigault Newman

Omarosa Manigault Newman, everyone's favorite opportunist, hit the talk show circuit on Sunday as she continues to promote her tell-all book on her time in the Trump White House, Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House, scheduled to go on sale August 14.

"Meet the Press" was Omarosa's first stop on her whirlwind press tour, so expect more bombshell revelations and White House denials in the days to come.

Former White House aide Omarosa Onee Manigault-Newman has unleashed a collective freak-out on Twitter after she revealed she recorded a conversation with chief of staff John Kelly from inside the White House Situation Room.

"I think that Omarosa unfortunately has undercut her own credibility", Conway said, saying the author had previously given "a glowing appraisal of Donald Trump".

In the book Omarosa only describes hearing about the tape from anonymous sources. She told Todd that she heard a recording of Trump using the n-word.

She says, "I heard his voice as clear as you and I are sitting here".

Karl later clarified that none of the 55 top paid staffers at the White House are African American. He then offers to make it a "friendly departure" and said that she violated some "very serious legal issues" without elaborating on what those were. Newman also said it was the only meeting she had with Kelly during her time at the White House.

Trump called Manigault Newman "a lowlife" on Saturday, in his first public response to the her book.

"They take me into the Situation Room, the doors are locked, they tell me I can't leave and they start to threaten me, put fear in me, to put me under duress", she said.

She said she was releasing the recording to correct "the false story" that she attempted to "storm" Trump's residence after Kelly fired her.

"They were not offering me a real job", Manigault Newman said on NBC.

Ms Conway said that, in her more than two years working with Mr Trump, she has never heard him use a racial slur about anyone.

"John Kelly is running this White House and Donald Trump has no clue what's going on", she told NBC. She said in a statement that she feels "pity for Omarosa as she embarrasses herself by creating salacious lies and distortions just to try to be relevant and enrich herself by selling books at the expense of the truth".

She also claimed Americans were being kept in the dark about the president's mental decline saying: "I was complicit with this White House deceiving this nation".

But then the former reality show contestant appeared to contradict herself during an interview with NPR, in which she claimed to have heard the tape herself. Meantime, Trump is quoted dismissing his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.as a "f**k up".
