Maurizio Sarri made a winning start as a Premier League manager as his Chelsea side produced a dominant performance to win at Huddersfield Town.
There will be much to work on but also plenty to please Sarri: Three goals, occasional spells of the lightning-fast passing and decision-making that he wants, plus an assured debut for new goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who dealt with the relatively few challenges he faced with little to no fuss.
Mauricio Sarri said this week that his Chelsea team might not play entirely as he wants until the second half of the season and, against Huddersfield, they certainly were not the whirling, fast-paced team of the new manager's ideals.
The Belgian made a burst from his own half that drew Huddersfield defenders towards him before rolling a diagonal pass for Pedro to slot in the third.
"I am really very happy because in the first part of the season I think that for us it is not easy to gain points", the Chelsea boss said.
A Spaniard was then involved with the second as Marcos Alonso went down in the area for a penalty. He captained the side well and the defence looked cohesive under his watch.
After a frustrating debut against City, Jorginho produced a fine display at the base of Chelsea's midfield.
When asked how long it could take for his players to be at their best, Sarri surprised many with his response.

The ex-Everton man put in an impressive shift before being replaced by fellow Englishman Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Hazard appeared for the final 15 minutes, as Real Madrid continue to circle, and gave a reminder as to just why he is so coveted.
