House of Fraser website offline amid reported delivery 'wrangle'

House of Fraser

We were all shocked to hear that the lovable House of Fraser could be closing its Dundrum doors.

As a result, the retailer has cancelled all online orders and is refunding customers.

Mike Ashley, the founder and chief executive of Sports Direct, announced on Friday that he was buying House of Fraser out of administration for £90 million.

"My ambition is to transform House of Fraser into the Harrods of the High Street".

House of Fraser has taken its website offline following customer complaints about delayed eCommerce deliveries since its sale to Sports Direct last week for £90million.

House of Fraser's creditors also include its PR firm, Newgate Communications, which is owed £33,512, and Royal Mail, which is owed £135,465.

House of Fraser has taken down its website after its warehouse operator, XPO Logistics, "paused" processing orders because of a dispute over payment. "Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused".

"All customers affected will receive an email about the cancellation and refund in the next couple of days".

A source close to Sports Direct told The Guardian it had been forced to cancel orders as XPO was being "totally unreasonable in terms of their demands" and was "refusing to engage in any process" which would "move the situation forward".

One said on Twitter: "Absolutely disgraceful". "I paid for delivery and the money was taken out of my account". Yes a week ago for my daughters birthday. Not 1 email concerning delivery or info and now order cancelled and you say email in a few days!

"We have taken the decision to cancel and refund all orders that have not already been sent to customers", the department store said on Facebook.

Work at the House of Fraser national supply centre in Wellingborough has ground to a halt following a dispute between the store's new owner and its logistics company.
