Netflix compares the series, which "traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft" to "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Exorcist".

Netflix released the first two images from the show and they appear to have hit the proverbial nail on the head.

Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Sabrina tries to live a relatively normal life as a high school student, but she's also beginning her "dark education as a sorceress" as we meet her in the series, and that will eventually bring her into conflict with "the forces of darkness that threaten our world", according to Netflix's official description.

The newest photos give us a full look at Kiernan Shipka's Sabrina, a teenage girl who's part of a long line of Devil-worshipping (and marrying) witches.

The Powers That Be did warn/promise fans that "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" would be quite dark. The show is based on the comic of the same name and stars Kiernan Shipka in the titular role, along with Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, and more.

Although "Sabrina" was originally conceived as a companion series to "Riverdale" - since they are both set in the same Archie Comics universe - "Sabrina" ended up on Netflix instead of The CW, and Aguirre-Sacasa said there are no plans for series crossovers at this time.

The adaptation centers around the teenage witch's struggle to come to terms with her identity which gets complicated because of her half-witch, half-mortal status. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, is an executive producer alongside Riverdale collaborators Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater and Lee Toland Krieger.
