Demi Lovato experiencing ‘complications’ from apparent overdose

Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato's newest single "Sober" has re-entered the Billboard chart just a week after news broke that the singer was hospitalized for an apparent overdose.

Lovato, 25, is staying at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and a source told the site, "She is under the care of medical experts and is expected to make a full recovery".

Last week, TMZ, quoting law enforcement sources, reported that Lovato was found unconscious at her home and was treated with Narcan, an emergency treatment for suspected opioid and drug overdoses.

The singer has had the support of her family and former boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, according to People.

Lovato has been open about her struggles with an addiction to cocaine and alcohol, as well as mental health issues and an eating disorder.

She also said she was not with Lovato when the incident happened, but "I am with her now, and will continue to be because she means the world to me just as she does to all of you". A pal told People magazine, "Wilmer has spent hours at the hospital with Demi every day".

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Wilmer Valderrama was devastated to learn that Demi Lovato had overdosed on drugs. The day before the overdose, Lovato was working out with Danielle Martin - her Jiu-Jitsu trainer - and she says that Lovato "wasn't herself".

Dani Vitale, both a friend and a backup dancer for Demi Lovato, is speaking out about the star's recent hospitalization.

However, she later hinted that she'd relapsed when she released the song "Sober" that June. "So many ups and downs", Lovato wrote. "This was an incredibly hard decision for both of us, but we have realized more than anything that we are better as best friends". "He never takes credit for my sobriety", Lovato shared at the time, "but I guarantee I wouldn't be alive without him today". She also sought professional help for substance abuse and entered rehab in 2010.
