Civic Sport headlines Honda’s style and safety tech upgrade

2019 Honda Civic front press shots

The Honda Civic is entering its third model year after starting off its 10th generation with a bang, and it's seen fit to shove a few more tricks up its compact car's sleeves.

Honda says this engine has been "enhanced" (thanks largely to new friction reduction measures), adding that it has incorporated more insulating material in key areas round the vehicle. There is a new full-width front splitter as well, along with chrome accents around the fog lamps.

At the rear, there's now a chrome accent on the lower bumper for the sedan.

As for the tech, there's now Honda Sensing standard across the board.

Also standard on the Civic facelift is Honda's Sensing suite of safety features, which includes a collision warning and mitigation system with automatic braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more.

Finally, there's a new trim level. Rounding off the list of cosmetic updates are new designs for the alloy wheels. The Civic's 1.5-liter VTEC® Turbo and 2.0-liter VTEC® engines are produced in Anna, Ohio and Alliston, Ontario.

At the back, there's now a chrome accent on the lower rear bumper of the Sedan and new wheel designs for both two- and four-door models - including larger 18-inch rims on the Touring trim in the US.

Launch of the Civic facelift is slated to take place in the first half of 2019, and it is expected to be priced between Rs 16-20 lakh, where it'll go on to rival the likes of the Skoda Octavia, Toyota Corolla Altis and Hyundai Elantra.

There are no changes to the interior save for an updated 7-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a volume button. The current 2018 Civic LX and EX sedans start from $18,940 and $21,340, respectively, so somewhere around the $20k point seems likely.
