Anthony to sign with Rockets Monday

Carmelo Anthony

Anthony's time with the Thunder came to an end earlier this offseason when he was traded away to the Atlanta Hawks after he was unwilling to accept a bench role with the team.

Carmelo Anthony is officially a Houston Rocket.

The Hawks had traded for Anthony in a three-team deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Philadelphia 76ers.

However, two weeks have passed since Anthony cleared waivers and he is yet to sign a contract with the Rockets, despite the fact he's been connected with the franchise nearly all the offseason.

Anthony is expected to sign a one-year, $2.4 million deal to join the Rockets on Monday, ESPN reported, after weeks of speculation that all but confirmed Anthony would play alongside James Harden and Chris Paul next season. He added that Anthony is also in Houston and is completing his physical.

Anthony spent just one season with the Thunder following a trade from the New York Knicks, but playing alongside Russell Westbrook and Paul George he experienced the worst season of his career, averaging just 16.2 points.

"I think this is totally different", D'Antoni said.

According to the Rockets, 'Melo ranks 19th on the NBA's all-time scoring list and is a 10-time All-Star. The Rockets fell one win short of the NBA Finals, dropping the Western Conference Finals to the Warriors in seven games.
