Trump hails Boris Johnson as ‘a friend’

EPA ParliamentBoris Johnson is in the firing line from pro-Brexiteers like MP Andrew Brigden

"The Tories can't decide whether to calm business fears or tell firms to get lost, they've lost it at this crucial juncture".

"The direct consequences of that will be Prime Minister Corbyn".

Some euroskeptic lawmakers dream of replacing May with a staunch Brexiteer such as Johnson, a populist, polarizing figure who has never made a secret of his ambition to be prime minister.

"I like Boris Johnson, I've always liked him".

He said: "When it comes to a vote sometime around the end of this year, let us say that Theresa May has done a deal that bears some resemblance to what was put forward at Chequers with the EU".

One take is that Davis leaving clears the way for a softer Brexit and that might be the right call but something has been brewing before this latest whipsaw.

May's Brexit plan - agreed by the cabinet on Friday in the hope of unblocking negotiations with Brussels due to resume today - has now cost her two of her top four ministers, throwing her administration and authority into turmoil.

"Hopefully we will resist very strongly any attempt to get any further concessions from us on this, because I think this goes further than we should have gone already".

David Davis announced his resignation from the government yesterday (9 July), saying that the general direction of policy would leave the United Kingdom in "at best a weak negotiating position".

May's proposals for a future European Union relationship after Britain departs from the bloc next March had taken two years of internal government wrangling to agree.

Replacing Dominic Raab MP as the new Housing Minister is Kit Malthouse MP.

"In his six months in the job, Dominic Raab seemed somewhat detached and arguably disinterested in working closely with us to deliver the affordable homes that so many people need". Three junior ministers also quit their posts.

In his previous role as Minister of State for Justice, Raab was exposed to the legislative machinations involved in Brexit, many of which will have a significant impact on Northern Ireland.

"It's really kind of irrelevant to what we're trying to do, and it certainly doesn't express the opinion of the British people that I've met", Ambassador Johnson said of the balloon.

The Guardian newspaper quoted an unnamed Conservative MP saying the resignations would continue in protest against her plan to keep strong economic ties with the European Union - dubbed the Chequers plan after her country retreat where it was agreed last week. However, the jolt has come at an inopportune moment as Britain is engaged in crucial negotiations with European officials to hammer out a deal ahead of an EU summit in Europe.

BRITISH Prime Minister Theresa May's government appears to be in deep trouble over the Brexit issue. He has given his vote of confidence to his successor. Inside, the paper's report says May finds herself in a "serious crisis" caused by her "inability" to manage an orderly Brexit.

The news has sparked speculation of a potential leadership challenge, and the threat of another general election.
