Trump disses 'fake news' CNN in joint press conference with May

Trump Attacks CNN, NBC in Joint Press Conference With British Prime Minister

President Trump held a press conference with UK Prime Minister Theresa May Friday morning from Chequers Court and didn't leave the lectern before a confrontation with CNN's Jim Acosta. He was asked about comments he had made to The Sun in which he criticized the Prime Minister's handling of Brexit. "And unfortunately there was a story that was done, which was generally fine, but it didn't put in what I said about the prime minister, and I said tremendous things".

"Trump even mentioned because of that Sun "fake news" article as he called it, he apologized to Teresa May and said so at the press conference and she took it very lightly and said, 'oh, it's the press, "' DeLay said.

Trump said his aides had their own recording of the interview and suggested the tape would prove him right.

Throughout the press conference Trump praised May effusively, calling her "an incredible woman" doing a "great job". I don't take questions- I don't take questions from CNN.

"In today's press conference, I paused while my colleague from CNN went back and forth with President Trump over a question", Roberts said. "I don't take questions from CNN", said Trump. "And to say they're not a real network, or fake news, is also unfair". "It's called fake news and we solve a lot of problems with the good old recording instrument". The interview, however, was recorded.

"Fortunately, we tend to record stories now...we record when we deal with reporters".

Roberts then began putting his question to the president through the microphone provided to him as the reporter granted a question by the president. He continued to make pleas for a question as Trump called on John Roberts of Fox News. She is honest as the day is long. "Of course it happens to be NBC, which is possibly worse than CNN", he said.

He said he only proceeded with his question after "it became clear that the president wasn't going to entertain a question from" Acosta. "We stand by our reporting and the quotes we used - including those where the President was positive about the Prime Minister, in both the paper and in our audio - and we're delighted that the President essentially retracted his original charge against the paper later in the press conference". "For the President to call her dishonest is unfair", Roberts said in a statement to TheWrap.
