The man with the world's longest fingernails finally had them cut

Indian man with world's longest fingernails- You Tube Screen grab

Due to years of growing the nails and the weight of the same, his hand now suffers the disability. Or rather, a technician wearing a face mask and wielding a power tool carefully removed them during a "nail clipping ceremony" in NY.

The world's most anticipated manicure has finally taken place.

He stopped cutting his left-hand fingernails in 1952, after a teacher scolded him for roughhousing with a friend and accidentally breaking off the teacher's fingernail.

The Guinness World Record holder for the longest fingernails ever on a single hand has had his claws cut after 66 years.

But now look! He has had them cut and they have gone on display at Ripley's Believe it or Not! museum of weird and wonderful things in NY in the US. His thumbnail, the longest of the set, measures an incredible 197.8cm (77.8ins).

Mr Chillal said he did not take the decision to part ways with his nails lightly.

A man with fingernails longer than a bus finally cut them off during a "nail clipping ceremony" in NY earlier this week after 66 years of growing them out.

Chillal made a decision to see how long he could grow them, even though the Guinness Book of World Records didn't exist then.

Chillal carved out a living for himself as a photographer, using a custom camera that allowed him to shoot one-handed. He can not open his hand from a closed position or flex his fingers.

I am in pain. His cut fingernails are laid flat in a memorial case and span a length of over 31 feet, the height of a three-story building, according to a statement by Ripley's. "With every heart beat all five fingers, my wrist, elbow and shoulder are hurting a lot and at the tip of the nail there's a burning sensation always".
