Sinatra’s first wife dies at 101

"My mother passed away peacefully tonight at the age of 101".

When confronted by Nancy, Frank admitted he had been involved with another woman but he vowed it was a one-off and the pair married.

She born as Nancy Barbato on March 25, 1917 and met Frank in 1934 at the New Jersey holiday resort of Long Branch.

On IMDB, she is listed as having three credits, appearing as herself in the two-part Sinatra: All or Nothing at All documentary series, the Nancy & Lee in Las Vegas documentary and a guest appearance on Dinah's Place; on all three appearances, she was listed under her maiden name.

She never remarried and had three children-Nancy Jr, Tina and Frank Jr, who died in 2016 aged 72.

Nancy Barbato married Sinatra in 1939 when he was a struggling singer.

He was married four times, the last time to Barbara, who died past year aged 90.

She also tweeted the news on Friday night, calling her mother "the light of my life".

Nancy Sinatra Sr, the teenage sweetheart and first wife of legendary singer Frank Sinatra, has died.

After the wedding she worked as a secretary and he as a singing waiter.

Her death comes two decades after her husband's, who died of a heart attack in 1998 at the age of 82.

In 1950, humiliated by reports in the press of Frank's affair with screen siren Ava Gardner, Nancy filed for separation and their divorce was finalized in 1951. "He has a couple of times sought out Nancy Sinatra, even though she does not fit into the fast-moving, neurotic world he seems to prefer".

She also remained friendly with her ex-husband, who is said to have put in requests over the years for pasta and other Italian food dishes she was known to be an expert at preparing. Sinatra's only living former wife is now actress Mia Farrow.
