Xherdan Shaqiri Liverpool Stoke transfer news Man Utd

Xherdan Shaqiri is relishing the chance to get into the big time after he finally became Liverpool's third signing of the summer.

Percy has claimed Xherden Shaqiri is now due for a Liverpool medical on Friday and provided there are no issues he will be unveiled as the Merseysiders' new recruitment shortly.

However, Man Utd will have to look elsewhere as the Daily Mail are one of several outlets reporting that Liverpool have now agreed a deal to sign Shaqiri after triggering his £13.75m relegation release clause.

Shaqiri has been brought in by Jurgen Klopp to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho after he left Liverpool for Barcelona.

The Switzerland worldwide had been on holiday after helping his country reach the last-16 of the World Cup but he broke off to complete a medical at Melwood on Friday.

Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson does not believe Shaqiri will start for Liverpool though.

'We are the ideal move for him in this moment as well I think, because he needs to push himself and challenge himself and our environment encourages that.

While supporters might be upset with the way the goalkeeping situation is being handled after Loris Karius' latest blunder, the same fans are excited to see a new player come through the Melwood gates.

"Is he going to play in that hole in behind the main striker?"

"We are the ideal move for him in this moment as well I think, because he needs to push himself and challenge himself and our environment encourages that".

"So I'd say that's a hit, as a squad player, Shaqiri to Liverpool".
