Sacha Baron Cohen reveals promo, premiere date for new Showtime series

If Who Is America? is in fact the title of Cohen's new mysterious program, and if it's the same thing as an unrevealed-yet-teased new series Showtime began promoting (albeit discretely) in late June, then it might be arriving sooner rather than later.

Sacha Baron Cohen arrives at the LA premiere of Alice Through The Looking Glass (AP) Sacha Baron Cohen/Borat poses for photographers during the Photocall for "Borat-The Movie" on the beach in Cannes.

Showtime, the channel that is set to air the new show in America, have described it as "shameless", "unhinged", and "cold-blooded", and that it might be "perhaps the most risky show in the history of television". "Nobody knows how to cause a stir like Sacha Baron Cohen, and it's going to be fascinating to watch what happens when Who Is America? is released on the world".

"Sacha is a comedic genius who shocks you with his audacity, bravery and inventiveness", president and CEO David Nevins said. It then transitions to audio of what appears Cohen, in character, asking former vice president Dick Cheney to sign his "waterboard kit". Behind the elaborate setup is a genuine quest for the truth about people, places and politics. Variety subsequently reported that the format of the new show is said to be similar to Da Ali G Show, and that "at least one or two episodes have already been produced or at least roughly assembled". Check out the teaser videos above and see the Trump promo clip below.

After the vaguest of vague teasers last week, Cohen dropped a clip on Twitter that still doesn't answer a ton of questions but does feature the undercover filmmaker getting Dick Cheney to cheerfully sign a waterboard kit on camera. "That's the first time I've ever signed a waterboard".
