With her crooked underbite and lolling tongue, Zsa Zsa quickly warmed the hearts of the world.

Zsa Zsa, an English bulldog, stands on stage after winning The World's Ugliest Dog Competition in Petaluma, north of San Francisco, California. She lived life as an underdog, spending five years in a puppy mill before being rescued.

A dog that became famous for her looks has died just weeks after being crowned the World's Ugliest Dog.

"We were extremely confident, and that's why we took this big trip here".

"From the moment we saw her lovely face, we knew we would be her forever home", Brainard said last month after the big win. At the time, her owner, Megan Brainard, said couldn't be happier.

"I'm still in shock", she said.

Zsa Zsa's 15 minutes of fame was extended when Brainard brought her on the Today show in June to celebrate her victory. "It's probably going to be the same with her passing".

Brainard and the rest of Zsa Zsa's family hosted a ceremony for her in their back yard to honor the pup.

"From the moment we saw her handsome face, we knew we would be her forever home", Brainard said after her pet won the contest at the Sonoma-Marin County Fair.

Zsa Zsa is known for her pink toenails and long tongue.

An intimate farewell has already taken place in Zsa Zsa's home in Anoka, Minnesota.
