Queen and Duke of Edinburgh to miss Prince Louis's christening

Prince Louis will be christened on Monday

Neither Meghan Markle nor Prince Harry is on the list, but the royal couple will attend the baptism as will Prince Charles, his wife Camilla Parker-Bowles, Kate's parents Mr. and Mrs. Michael Middleton, her brother James and her sister Pippa with her spouse James.

While many famous royal faces will gather for Prince Louis' christening today, Queen Elizabeth II won't be one of them. (Carter and van Straubenzee are exes, but that's fine y'all.) KMid's cousin Adam Middleton was also named as a godfather, and William's cousin Laura Fellowes (the daugher of Princess Diana's sister Lady Jane Fellowes) was named a godmother.

Prince Louis will have six godparents when he is christened at St James's Palace later today, Kensington Palace has revealed.

Bookmakers are predicting Prince William and Kate will choose friends over family as Prince Louis' godparents.

Louis's grandparents - the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall - were also at the ceremony.

Prince George has seven godparents, while Princess Charlotte has five.

Louis, who is being christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, will be welcomed into the Christian faith dressed in the same cream gown used for George and Charlotte.

A royal source said it had been agreed some time ago that the 92-year-old queen would not attend the small, family affair and her absence was not due to any health issues.

Mr. Nicholas van Cutsem is one of William and Harry's oldest friends.

Who's taking Prince Louis' official christening portraits?

The Palace also confirmed that Kate Middleton and Prince William's youngest child will wear the handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe, made by Angela Kelly, Dressmaker to The Queen.

The prince will be baptized in the Lily Font, a silver font ordered by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert for the baptism of their daughter Victoria in 1841. Once the ceremony is complete, guests will attend a private reception at nearby Clarence House where they will be served cake taken from a tier of William and Kate's wedding cake.
