PH ‘crimeless’ during Pacquiao-Matthysse fight

Легендарный экс-чемпион мира хочет провести бой с Ломаченко

He is now the WBA welterweight champion.

The fighting Philippines senator known as "Pac-Man" took on the risky Argentine WBA welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday knowing a defeat could have lowered the curtain on one of the greatest careers in boxing history.

Duterte said in a statement that Pacquiao has proven himself again as "one of the greatest boxers of all time" and that the win will cement his legacy in the sport.

"It's like I'm addicted to boxing and I really love to fight and bring honour to my country".

"I knocked him down and that's a bonus for being patient in the fight, and working hard in training".

Victory over Matthysse opened a glorious new act in a 23-year career that has seen Pacquiao become the only man to move up through eight weight divisions and win world titles in all of them.

Romero, at ringside along with AirAsia big boss Tony Fernandes, said Pacquiao's seventh round stoppage of Matthysse should serve as an inspiration not only for the Asian Games-bounds athletes but also for those who are dreaming of making it big in their respective sports. If Mayweather - who is 41 and has not fought since his mega-bout against Conor McGregor last summer - isn't up for it, there has been talk of Pacquiao possibly fighting Amir Khan. "I think he's hurting from my punches", said Pacquiao, who hadn't won by knockout since 2009. There's a lot of potential opponents there, like (Vasyl) Lomachenko, there are so many fighters that have potential to be my opponent next, ' Pacquiao said after his win over Matthysse.

"I have the belt, so it's up to him". But with the resurgence of the Pacman, an inkling in all of us suggests a "second one" with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., is the best option. "If he wants to come back in boxing let's do a second one", he grinned.

Khan fights Samuel Vargas in his next outing, while Top Rank boss Bob Arum admitted he would need to sit down with Pacquiao before deciding who his fighter should face next.
