Paul George to re-sign with Thunder

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George grew up a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. More

Wojnarowski tweeted that Thunder general manager Sam Presti wanted to meet with George in Oklahoma City, and "with a party that's one more element to the franchise's yearlong recruiting effort on George".

Back when he was with the Indiana Pacers in 2017, George declared his desire to sign with the Lakers when he eventually became a free agent.

George and Thunder star Russell Westbrook have developed a close friendship, according to the New York Times.

Privately, Thunder executives have said going all the way back to the start of last season that they were prepared to spend heavily this season if they had to.

The 28-year-old had been reported as considering joining his home town Lakers, who remain the favourites to sign James after he opted out of his Cleveland Cavaliers contract. For his career between IN and Oklahoma City, he's averaged 18.6 points and 6.2 rebounds while connecting on 38 percent of his tries from 3-point range. The party begins at 8:15 while National Basketball Association free agency starts at 11:01 CT.

George is a good National Basketball Association player.

Most of that has to do with LeBron James, another moving piece we now have to wonder if his best destination. Given the savings the Thunder would get from doing so, it also could put them in a position to retain free agent forward Jerami Grant, and potentially add another helpful piece in free agency.

The Thunder have the power ti tempt George to stick around with a lucrative max offer sheet worth $176m over five years. I just want to help the team win.

Then there's Carmelo Anthony, who chose to make $27.9 million in the final season of his contract rather than test free agency.

A second round pick by Philadelphia in 2014, Grant has career averages of 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

Paul George has made his free agency decision. I mean, honestly, they can't say it anymore [than] that.
