Mahrez set to join Man City for £60m

The couple have a young child together

Yet Mahrez is now a Manchester City player and a record deal for the champions, beating the £57m paid for Aymeric Laporte in January.

City posted on their Twitter account a short video featuring Mahrez with the caption: "The best things come to those who wait..."

Algerian worldwide Riyad Mahrez secured his move to Manchester City on Tuesday (Jul 10), with the Premier League champions paying a reported club-record £60 million (US$79.6 million) for the winger.

Here is the photograph - is it Riyad Mahrez?

The exciting winger has successfully completed his medical and will wear the No 26 shirt next season, previously worn by Martin Demichelis.

The Algeria winger has been a long-term target for City and has now left Leicester to join the Premier League champions on a five-year-deal.

Although Leicester rejected the bid and City backed out, Pep Guardiola suggested afterwards that they would return for him in the summer.

"Riyad is a hugely talented player".

City director of football Txiki Begiristain said Mahrez "beats defenders and creates space".

Mahrez has been linked with a move away from Leicester ever since their remarkable 2015-16 Premier League title win, scoring 12 goals and registering 11 assists in the most recent campaign. "They're redefining the English game and I wanted to be a part of it", Mahrez said on City's website.

'Watching them from afar has been a pleasure.

Since Mahrez made his Premier League debut in 2014, only eight players - Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Eriksen, Jamie Vardy, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane - have been involved in more goals.

"I believe my own game can develop under Pep's management".
