'Fortnite' season five adds a desert locale, golf carts and rifts

Another leaked Fortnite skin is revealed

There's a lot to go over in the patch notes but some of the most notable new additions to the game will be the new All Terrain Kart (ATK) and Rifts that will be dotted around the battle royale map.

Viking ships, desert outposts, and ancient statues have appeared across the island.

The roof of the ATK also functions as a bounce pad.

As always, if you're struggling to complete any of the above challenges, be sure to check out our Fortnite hub area, where you'll find a bunch of guides ready to help, as well as other Fortnite-related news and information. You'll also be able to see how numerous pellets from a shot hit the target, which will be displayed by marks within the reticle, allowing you to see at a glance how effective your shot was.

Lean back and release at the same time for a higher jump.

As expected, the biggest changes are within the map. Polygon speculates that it might even transport players to an entirely different map.

Interestingly, the centre of some Storm circles will now shift in random directions as well as shrink. However, the first storm circle will now only ever do 1 damage, no matter how long you're stuck in it. Rather than their bullet spread being randomised, they'll now fire in a consistent manner, meaning you'll be able to learn where within their arc will actually get hit.

While the new locations and features will capture your attention, Epic has made a number of important tweaks to the in-game mechanics. Heavy shotguns have been given a 10 pellet magazine, instead of 5, and the ability to double pump has been reduced with the introduction of a shot delay.

For Switch players, V5 adds gyro motion control options to the game.

In 50v50 or 20v20 modes, you'll now get bonus XP up to three times per match for reviving teammates.
