Follow the World Cup semifinal between England and Croatia

Peter Crouch celebrates after pulling England level

After days of anticipation the moment has finally come for England fans.

Former England captain Steven Gerrard says Gareth Southgate's side have "done the country proud" - and believes they will beat Croatia in their World Cup semi-final.

In the lone World Cup 2018 game today, England and Croatia face off in the semifinals in Russian Federation, and a spot in the championship game is on the line. The match follows another all-Europe semifinal, Tuesday's France vs. Belgium game, which was won by France in a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Another commenter showered praise on Trippier's performance throughout the World Cup. "Every match at this World Cup is such". Odds on England to qualify are 8/13, while Croatia are 5/4.

England manager Gareth Southgate has spoken of how penalty shoot-outs can be emotionally draining, but Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic does not not feel the team will be exhausted.

For England, it will be a chance to return to the final for the first time since winning the tournament in 1966, and the "football is coming home" talk - a reference to England as where organized soccer got its start - has been growing as the team has advanced through the knockout stages. While they haven't faced any of the tournament's big hitters yet, they have displayed the kind of carefree attitude that always escaped their predecessors.

Defender Dejan Lovren dismissed suggestions that the team would be exhausted after extra time and two penalty shootouts in their last two match matches.

There were no nerves on show from either the manager or the players, as the relaxed atmosphere around the England camp continued.

Croatia make one change from their gruelling penalty shoot-out victory over Russian Federation. First win on penalties in the World Cup. "It's been an enjoyable journey, and we want to keep it going". Croatia may feel they have the edge in midfield, where Real Madrid's Luka Modric and Barcelona's Ivan Rakitic can expect to see much of the ball.

Among the many intriguing spectacles between two of the tournament's dark horses will be Dejan Lovren testing himself against Harry Kane, with the latter having emerged as the frontrunner for the Golden Boot thanks to his six goals so far. We have not been exhausted.
