Femi Kuti to perform alongside Beyonce, Jay-Z at Global Citizen Festival

If you happen to find yourself in Johannesburg, South Africa this December then you're there at the right time since there will be a free festival with a stacked line-up. But in the true spirit of Madiba, revelers will have to show that they have made a difference in ending poverty before they can get their share of the 100,000 tickets.

Global Citizens who earn their free tickets will see a music performance of a lifetime, as artists from around the world gather on our stage alongside world and corporate leaders, activists and advocates. Ticket-acquiring methods will be detailed further August 21.

Four Nigerian artistes: Tiwa Savage, D'Banj, Femi Kuti and Wizkid are scheduled to perform at the 2018 Mandela Global Citizen Festival holding in South Africa. Oprah Winfrey will also be there to deliver a keynote address, and hosts include Naomi Campbell, Sir Bob Geldof, Gayle King, Bonang Matheba, Tyler Perry, and Forest Whitaker.

The December event features a typically eye-popping lineup of musicians and will be the culmination of Global Citizen's yearlong Mandela 100 campaign in partnership with House Of Mandela. "We can eradicate poverty by 2030". It will take place in a number of countries across the world and aims to spread the message and ethos of the Global Citizen.

Aside from the plethora of worldwide and local acts that will feature at the Global Citizen Festival, prospective punters may be interested to hear that the gig is free.

Motsepe said: "What I like about this concert is that, as much as much as it is free, young people gain entry based on the points they have accumulated through acts of activism".
