Donald Trump isn’t concerned about Michael Cohen flipping on him: Giuliani

In memo to special counsel Trump lawyers cast former FBI Director Comey as dishonest and 'Machiavellian'

"Mueller hired originally as his chief investigator a man that has some kind of vicious bias against Donald Trump", Giuliani said, referring to Strzok.

"I should correct it, I didn't say they have to prove a crime", Giuliani clarified Sunday on CNN's State of the Union.

Cohen, President Donald Trump's longtime personal lawyer who is under investigation by federal prosecutors in NY, said in his Twitter post Sunday, July 1, that he sat down for an interview with ABC News and his "silence is broken".

Although Trump still "wants to testify", as Giuliani insisted, the likelihood of him speaking with Mueller looks increasingly slim.

Cohen has reportedly been feeling abandoned by his longtime employer after the Federal Bureau of Investigation raided his offices this past April, as Trump has tried to publicly distance himself from his former personal attorney in the wake of the raid.

The sources made it clear that, in his interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC two weeks ago, Cohen carefully chose the areas to distinguish himself from the President: First, one source said, "why did (Cohen) say I respect the Federal Bureau of Investigation?".

U.S. President Donald Trump's attorney said Sunday the president's legal team is "close to determining" that he won't sit for an interview with special counsel Robert Mueller in his investigation of Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign aimed at helping Trump win.

"We have no reason to believe he did anything wrong", the former New York City mayor said of Cohen.

"Zero. None", said Giuliani.

In particular, the same sources say Giuliani is wading into risky territory when he asks Cohen to "tell the truth" about the Trump Tower meeting with Donald Trump Jr. and Russian meddling in the election.

Yet he declared in the same report that the IG's office 'did not find documentary or testimonial evidence that improper considerations, including political bias, directly affected the specific investigative actions we reviewed'.

"[Comey] could have taken it that way, but by that time he had been fired", Giuliani said. "I have debriefed all their witnesses", he said.

"Did Rudy Giuliani really say on Sunday shows that Michael Cohen should cooperate with prosecutors and tell the truth?" tweeted Cohen attorney Lanny Davis.

"I want to answer".

"It cast a taint over the entire investigation", Mr. Giuliani said on ABC.

Mr. Strzok didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. "Is that the current condition", ABC News' "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos asked Giuliani, a member of Trump's legal team.

Cohen recently raised speculation that he might turn on Trump after he said his first loyalty belongs to his family and country, not the president, but Giuliani downplayed those concerns.

He also told ABC he did not agree with Trump's recent tweet repeating Vladimir Putin's claim that Russian Federation did not interfere in the election. To let Trump talk would be leading "our client like a lamb going to the slaughter", Giuliani said.

"Simply accepting the denial of Mr. Putin is unsustainable", Cohen said.
