Jhanvi's career gets a good start with Dhadak

Dhadak, the Sairat Hindi remake starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, just hit theatres near you.

How would the film perform at the box office? On opening day, Dhadak pushed the box office meter to score Rs 8.71 crores which is nearly a crore higher than what Student Of The Year made on Day 1 of its release, stated trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Day 1 is higher than Student Of The Year [Rs 8 cr].

Ajay-Atul, the music director duo, who were the composers of both Dhadak and Sairat, of which Dhadak is an adaptation, took home Rs 1.5 crore. This film has already created history by becoming highest opener featuring newcomers. It raked in Rs 8.71 crore on Friday itself. The film is directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Johar and Apoorva Mehta. He is thrilled with the film's outstanding performance at the box office. On Twitter, the filmmaker wrote: "Glad to have our own record broken previously held by SOTY!" It had released in 2235 screens in India and a total of 2791 worldwide. The film has opened to mixed reports.
