Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana break silence on James Gunn's firing

Sean Gunn Pens Thoughtful Twitter Thread in Response to Disney Firing His Brother James Over Offensive Tweets

Disney recently fired James Gunn from directing Guardians of the Galaxy 3 and severed their relationship with him following disturbing tweets that resurfaced from ten years ago joking about rape and pedophilia. Victor Salva, the director of that film, was sentenced to three years in state prison in 1988 for sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy who worked on his movies, according to the Los Angeles Times. They're disgusting, but they were clearly intended as gags.

Goldthwait made sure to note that James Woods, who regularly tweets in support of far-right politics, also provides a voice for Hercules and might have recorded his voice for the new attraction.

Gunn's brother, Sean Gunn, who plays Kraglin and performs the on-set motion capture for Rocket Raccoon, also published a lengthy defence of his brother in a series of tweets.

Former wrestler Bautista has now taken to Twitter say that while Gunn "made mistakes" he did not deserve to be fired. "Let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger.' JAMES 1:19", Pratt tweeted.

Guardians stars weren't the only ones who expressed their support for Gunn.

A petition for Disney to re-hire Gunn was launched following this weekend's news, and now has over 175,000 digital signatures - including that of actor Selma Blair. "Peace", Gunn wrote in a lengthy post on social media. "I'm pausing myself to take everything in before I speak out of [turn]".

Celebrities defend 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn after sudden firing

'James Gunn is one of the most loving, caring, good-natured people I have ever met. "Always will", she wrote.

'He's made mistakes. We all have.

Karen Gillan and Zoe Saldana, who play feuding sisters Nebula and Gamora in the Marvel films, both said that they needed time to process the situation, but loved "every" member of the GotG family. "Im (sic) NOT ok with what's happening to him".

"What will you do when the #cybernazis attack you?"

Bautista has been one of the most outspoken proponents of keeping Gunn at the helm of the franchise. Unless we start to unite together against this crap, whether people are offended are not!.

"Many people who have followed my career know when I started, I viewed myself as a provocateur, making movies and telling jokes that were outrageous and taboo", Gunn, whose feature directorial debut was the shlocky, gross-out horror comedy Slither, tweeted by way of explanation Thursday night in a five-part thread, before he was sacked.
