Bugatti Divo Teased Ahead August 24 Reveal, Costs $5.87 Million

Bugatti Chiron Divo lined up as downforce-honed variant

To honour his feats on that twisty mountain course, Bugatti's Divo has lasered in on driving dynamics.

Bugatti has confirmed that it is working on a new model called the Divo, which the French automaker promises will be "light and nimble" and "boast enormous downforce and g-forces".

Bugatti hasn't revealed the auto yet, but confirms that Divo will be the first project undertaken by its newly resurrected coachbuilding division.

A shot showing embroidered branding for the auto reveals none of the performance-boosting revisions over the Chiron, but the hashtag "Built for corners" suggests a set-up more suited to track driving than outright speed.

Bugatti's mention of its heritage in coachbuilding also points toward this new model sharing its basic chassis and powertrain with the Chiron.

More news: Caroline Flack and Andrew Brady have split up

The name Divo is also derived from Bugatti's past, named in honour of French racing driver Albert Divo, a two-time victor of the Targa Florio in the 1920s.

The Bugatti Divo is scheduled for a full unveiling at 11:20 a.m. PST on August 24, at "The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering" in Carmel, California. "The Divo is made for corners", said Bugatti chief Stephan Winkelmann, who previously headed Lamborghini (and briefly Audi Sport) under the same Volkswagen Group umbrella.

The Divo is being made in a limited series of only 40 vehicles.

Quotable: "Happiness is not around the corner". It is the corner.

Bugatti has teased the new Divo: a limited-run hypercar which, when launched, will be priced from €5 million.
