YouTube Music Officially Available to All Today, YouTube Premium Too

And it's available right now. Google has also announced that The Beatles' full album catalog is available on YouTube Music beginning today, so that's one less thing the other music services have on it.

The plan was to roll out YouTube Premium and YouTube Music in Canada, replacing the YouTube Red services the company previously had.

YouTube is the internet's biggest video site, with more than 1.8 billion accounts tuning in every month. Those using premium will also get access to the "Youtube Originals" TV series.

YouTube Premium originally launched in October 2015 as YouTube Red, a subscription services that gave people an ad-free YouTube experience and later exclusive original content. The YouTube Music app had existed in a handful of markets for a few years, but that version was rather different from the one that launched last month.

So far, that has yielded unscripted shows "F2 Finding Football" and "The Sidemen Show", which has been billed as "The Inbetweeners" meets "Top Gear". This is the section of Google Play Music where users upload their current music collections to the cloud, ready to stream wherever they want.

This means you can view the latest music on the video platform and download the track straight on your phone without switching apps or services. It's a simple UI that's easy to navigate and reminds me a lot of Spotify with dark colours. It will also offer automatic recommendations based on the artists and songs you have played before on the service, along with where you are now located, and what you might be doing. The app also will bring you those hard to find releases that can be found only on YouTube. Having been in many situations where I forget to download any music, this could be a killer addition. But YouTube Music has the added bonus of being able to tap into the vast archive of YouTube for its music, as well as the videos that go alongside this. (Or $17.99 per month for a Family Plan.) Though it's now running a promotion offering the premium service free for the first three months.

Google is revamping its music and paid video plans once again. Of course, this isn't the first time Google has tried to carve out a space for itself in the music streaming market, but it seems the company is hoping that the YouTube name pulls in more subscriptions than Google Play Music did.

The app's recommendation engine (so long as a user opts-in) monitors factors such as where they are in the world, what time it is and what the weather is doing and serves music it deems appropriate as a result.
