You Can Do It! Skyscraper-Climbing US Raccoon Transfixes Twitter

A raccoon that spent much of Tuesday climbing a skyscraper in St. Paul, Minn., has gathered a crowd of anxious followers from around the world.

Right now in Minnesota, a humble raccoon has taken on a lofty challenge: it's scaling a skyscraper, and we're all really anxious about it.

With no balconies or windows that open, office workers inside the building were left to watch anxiously as the raccoon continued its climb.

Many feared for the raccoon's safety, with more than 4,500 watching a live-stream of its climb to the top.

Earlier, St. Paul Animal Control had dispatched officials to the roof to set live traps.

We certainly hope this all ends happily, but we can't say exactly when that will be. "We didn't see it and thought, 'It went away - that's great!'" Laurie Brickley told the publication.

A Minnesota radio station branded the raccoon with the hashtag #mprraccoon.

Its travails captivated social media users.

By Tuesday afternoon, it was up to the 23rd floor.

Onlookers and reporters tracked the critter's progress as it scaled the 25-storey UBS Tower. "We all just have to keep our fingers crossed".

The last update about the raccoon's journey was staff from the local fire department were trying to lure it the roof to rescue it.
