White House adviser apologizes for slamming Justin Trudeau

White House aide apologises over 'special place in hell' comment

Mr Trump said he chose to back out of the G-7 communique after watching Mr Trudeau's closing summit news conference, at which he warned that Canada would not be pushed around on tariffs - a point the Canadian prime minister had made several times before.

Canada's prime minister earned Trump's ire by giving a press conference, after the U.S. president left La Malbaie, in which he spoke critically of USA trade policy and said Canada would "move forward with retaliatory measures" in response to Trump's move to impose tariffs on aluminum and steel.

Deploying distinctly Trumpian nicknames for the Canadian leader, Navarro said: "And that's what Bad Faith Justin Trudeau did with that stunt press conference".

Navarro exacerbated bilateral tensions between the USA and Canada on Sunday when he criticized Trudeau for double-crossing President Donald Trump.

But after viewing the press conference on television Saturday, it set Trump off on a tweet storm, accusing Trudeau of dishonesty and calling him "weak".

"That's unconscionable", Heyman said."Anybody who represents the United States of America from the White House using that kind of language with any world leader of any type, I think is uncalled for".

At an event hosted by the Journal, Navarro said he had made a mistake, according to the newspaper.

U.S. President Donald Trump will meet with his top trade advisers on Thursday to decide whether to activate threatened tariffs on billions of dollars in Chinese goods, a senior Trump administration official said on Wednesday.

"Canada does not believe that ad hominem attacks are a particularly appropriate or useful way to conduct our relations with other countries", Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland responded. Kudlow explained on CNN that the administration was lashing out at Trudeau to show Kim that Trump was not weak.

As for Trump's own response, he predicted that Trudeau's remarks are going to cost Canada "a lot of money".

Never in my lifetime, at least that I'm aware of, have I ever seen the Canadian government have to unanimously come together to condemn the words and actions of the United States President. He learned. You can't do that. "It was very friendly", Mr Trump said.

Navarro was not the only Trump cabinet member to sound off on Trudeau.

"Obviously we support the continuing efforts by the president on North Korea", the prime minister said. Canadians are "polite, we're reasonable, but we also will not be pushed around", Trudeau said. You know they put out a document, I don't know if you saw it.
