Watch Painfully Shy 13-Year-Old Singer Slay On ‘America’s Got Talent’

Why Courtney Hadwin auditioned for America's Got Talent and when she'll be on again

Tuesday night, Sophie Fatu made her way to the stage of "America's Got Talent".

From the first moment Hadwin began to sing, judge Simon Cowell was absolutely floored, and he had nothing but praise for the wonderful songstress after her performance.

"Bloody hell, Courtney! You were this shy little thing when you first came out. And then you sing, and you're like a lion", Cowell marveled. "I mean, genuinely, incredible". "Oh my gosh! You are not from this era".

The video of her audition has been viewed 16 million times. When the Black Crowes song, "Hard to Handle", began playing, the shy little girl, all of the sudden, looked like she was possessed by the spirit of Janis Joplin.

Judge Howie Mandel added. Comparing Hadwin to a young Joplin, Mandel recalled the story of how legendary music producer Clive Davis discovered Joplin and immediately signed her to his label.

"I'm not Clyde Davis. The only thing I can do for you young lady is give you this". She has also sung locally in Hartlepool, but America's Got Talent opens up a whole new audience for the schoolgirl.

What can you say about Courtney Hadwin's performance?

Courtney Hadwin from County Durham may be 13, but she has blown away the judges on one of the world's biggest TV shows!

Courtney competed in The Voice Kids UK previous year but missed out on the top prize.
