USA expands China health alert amid illness reports

США отозвали двух дипломатов из Кубы из-за

Two other officials said that the victims brought for examination at the University of Pennsylvania, which doctors studied the cases a year ago in Cuba and the new U.S. Consulate in China.

"As for the latest incident, my understanding is that the U.S. side hasn't had any formal communication with the Chinese side about it", foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Thursday at a regular press briefing.

China reaffirmed today that its official investigations had not found any evidence of alleged health problems of USA diplomats working in this country.

Early tests showed that the American worker in China had similar medical results to someone who has experienced a mild traumatic brain injury or concussion.

The "nature of the injuries suffered by the affected personnel, and whether a common cause exists for all cases, has not yet been established", wrote Pompeo on June 5.

A US official, who wasn't authorized to discuss the situation publicly and requested anonymity, said the evacuated American government workers were being brought from China for testing to the University of Pennsylvania.

USA personnel in Havana began reporting the incidents in 2016, and they were first disclosed publicly past year.

"We are working to figure out what took place, both in Havana and now in China as well", he said.

The cases come at a sensitive time in relations between the United States and China, with the two nations locked in negotiations aimed at preventing a trade war and tensions over Beijing's claims to the South China Sea.

China has said that it thoroughly investigated the initial case reported by the United States and found no reasons or clues to explain it.

Recall that from China sent several American diplomats and their family members to undergo medical examinations.

The China incidents affect one of the most important of the seven USA diplomatic outposts in the country.
