Trump says National Basketball Association champs won't get invite

President Donald Trump: 'We're not going to invite' the Warriors or Cavaliers to the White House

Trump still expects the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions, the Washington Capitals, to visit the White House.

"We're not going to invite either team", he told reporters Friday morning.

"I didn't invite them", Trump said. "We're not going to invite either team", he said.

"If they don't want to be here, I don't want them".

Mr. Trump earlier praised the Capitals in a post on Twitter, citing Alex Ovechkin, the team's Russian-born star, who previous year started what he called a "social movement" called PutinTeam to support Russian President Vladimir Putin.

After NBA stars LeBron James and Steph Curry criticized President Donald Trump over his cancellation of a Philadelphia Eagles White House visit, the President told reporters Friday whoever wins the NBA Championship will not be invited to Washington. "It won't be Cleveland or Golden State going", James said on Tuesday. "So it won't be Golden State or Cleveland going".

Trump said he would consider pardon applications submitted by players who have participated in protests during the anthem.

So I want to give him full credit when his team beats the Cleveland Cavaliers for another league championship.

Silver also recognized the voice National Basketball Association players have used in political and social issues in the past, dating back to Hall-of-Famer and 11-time National Basketball Association champion Bill Russell.

Like LeBron, Curry does not expect Trump to invite this year's champs to the White House.

In his usual arrogant fashion, Trump went on to brag about his friendship with New England Patriots' Robert Kraft, and how much he enjoyed hosting the Patriots at the White House.

"I think we'll have the Caps", Trump said. "Let's hear it for the Eagles!" he shouted, as audience members booed him.

"I agree with 'Bron", said Warriors guard Stephen Curry.

In this instance, James came to the defense of Curry and the Warriors.

The announcement follows the news that Trump had disinvited the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles from the traditional post-championship White House visit because some of their players have not stood for the national anthem.

Steve Kerr isn't much of a Trump fan either. "I mean, we'll see".
