Trump says Cavs, Warriors won't be invited to White House

Donald Trump has responded to LeBron James and Stephen Curry stating they do not want to visit the White House by refusing to invite the National Basketball Association champions.

On the day the Philadelphia Eagles were supposed to be visiting the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl championship, participants in the 2018 NBA Finals ripped President Donald Trump and made it clear the NBA champion won't be going to White House, either.

Trump canceled the Eagles' visit after the team tried to reschedule at the last minute and because only a handful of players and staff were planning to attend.

Trump had written on Twitter, "Going to the White House is considered a great honor for a championship team".

Curry said Tuesday that he spoke with a current Eagles player about the team's decision-making process and how it went deeper than disagreeing with Trump policies and the ongoing issue of some National Football League players choosing not to stand for the pregame playing of "The Star-Spangled Banner". "If I invite you to my house and you don't want to come, that's on you".

"I didn't invite them. Pretty sure the way we handled things a year ago, kinda staying consistent with that", he said, according to Deadline.

The Warriors won last year's title but Mr. Trump revoked their invitation after one of their star players, Stephen Curry, said he would vote against a White House visit. "It won't be Golden State or Cleveland going".

"I know no matter who wins this series, no one wants the invite anyway", James told reporters on Tuesday, via the Washington Post.

Whether the Golden State Warriors complete the sweep in Game 4 of the NBA Finals tonight or if the Cleveland Cavaliers pull off the unthinkable and win it in 7, there won't be a championship celebration at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. He told reporters today that he might pardon Muhammad Ali (whose 1967 draft evasion conviction was already overturned, in 1971, by the U.S. Supreme Court).

"It's typical of him", James said of Trump.

"I think it's laughable at this point", he said.

This president who has taken a personal vendetta against all athletes who protest during the national anthem, calling them "sons of bitches" who don't belong in this country, now wants to sit down with those activist athletes so they can recommend people they believe should be pardoned.

He also said that winning a championship is much bigger than getting invited to the White House, "especially with him in it".

"I agree with 'bron", Curry said.
