Trump lashes out at United States allies in Twitter rant

Donald Trump

Apparently incensed by remarks about US tariffs at the closing press conference on Saturday by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Trump - who had already left the gathering in Quebec - tweeted that he had instructed USA officials not to endorse the final communiqué, which had already been agreed and published.

"Fair trade is now to be called fool trade if it is not reciprocal", he wrote in another, referring to Canada's allegedly unfair trading policy with the U.S. and continuing his personal twitter feud with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has called President Donald Trump's choice to break ranks with US allies-by backing out of a joint statement on social media and then deride foreign leaders-"a little depressing".

"Right now, the president is actually driving our allies away from us as we need them even more, while welcoming in the Russians", Markey said on CBS's "Face the Nation".

Trump complained on Sunday that he had been blindsided by Trudeau's criticism of his tariff threats at a summit-ending news conference.

Later Sunday, Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro piles on - "There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad-faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door".

The president has imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Europe, Canada and Mexico, fueling fears of a trade war as a number of countries mull retaliatory measures. "We will act too", Merkel said.

Officially, the Trump administration used national security grounds to justify the tariffs, but Trump's clash with Canada may have more to do with a perceived personal slight than the facts of the bilateral relationship.

A photo of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other world leaders standing over a cross-armed United States President Donald Trump at Friday's G7 summit has been given the meme treatment on social media.

The German chancellor also said she is not ready to "give up on G7" but would seek dialogue with Russian Federation and try to "work very closely" with Japan, Canada, India and China.

Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal.

In view of threatened United States tariffs on vehicle imports, which would particularly affect Germany, Grenell said that he was a "big auto fan" and knew how important the industry was.

Kim Jong-un "must not see American weakness", Kudlow said, shaking his jowls in a very Nixonian fashion.

However, that was quickly crushed when Trump denounced the Communique, saying that was not his experience before taking personal swings at Trudeau for his comments to the press afterwards.

He was reacting to Trudeau's declaration that Canadians would "not be pushed around" and would hit back at punishing USA tariffs on metal imports with "equivalent tariffs".

President Donald Trump's call to bring Russian Federation back into a group of the world's major advanced economies drew opposition from both Democratic and Republican lawmakers who said Moscow shouldn't be rewarded for its bad - and unrepentant - behavior. Although an event entirely comprising of USA allies, Trump had angered the majority of the leaders before he had even arrived, imposing trade tariffs on European and Canadian exports. From promoting democracy and to fighting terrorism, "we're on the same page".

But before the group could sign off on a joint statement of agreement on trade talks, Trump's advisers reportedly insisted that the us would not agree to two key points in the statement related to the environment.

"We spend two days working out a [joint] statement and commitments".
