The amusing and heartbreaking trailer drops for HBO's Robin Williams documentary

‘Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind’ HBO Documentary – First Trailer Out

Actor and comedian Robin Williams' suicide in August 2014 left so many shocked. It follows Robin Williams through his life and career, until his suicide.

"Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind" is set to premiere in the United States on July 16 on HBO and hopefully not too long after that on Sky Atlantic.

The upcoming documentary explores his extraordinary life and career, and includes home movies and interviews with a few of his close friends, including Billy Crystal, Eric Idle, Whoopi Goldberg, David Letterman, Steve Martin, Pam Dawber and his son, Zak Williams. Martin then acknowledges that Williams, on stage, was "a master", but "off stage, it felt like he was holding himself together".

Directed by Marina Zenovich, the documentary debuted at this year's Sundance for Zenovich's third time and earned rave reviews from critics, now holding a 100% rating on review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes based on 10 reviews.

"For me, stand-up is survival", he notes. "But he is the most successful person I know".

"You're only given a little spark of madness and if you lose that, you're nothing", the late Williams says in the first trailer. The trailer for Robin Williams: Come Inside My Mind is out and it will leave any Robin Williams fan emotional.

The documentary compiles footage of Williams - interviews, performances, and even childhood photos - and speaks to many of his peers in the comedy community as well as his family.
