Redmond O'Neal, son of Farrah Fawcett, charged with attempted murder

Redmond is the son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal

The son of late actress Farrah Fawcett faces charges including attempted murder resulting from a series of unprovoked attacks on randomly chosen men, authorities said.

O'Neal faces multiple charges including two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count each of attempted murder, criminal threats and brandishing a knife and one count of battery. On the last day of the "violent crime spree", O'Neal allegedly robbed a 7-Eleven store in Venice.

Redmond has been in jail since the 7-11 incident, his next hearing is scheduled for July. And with this particular crime, Redmond allegedly left fingerprints at the scene, which helped authorities identify him as a suspect. O'Neal was previously convicted in 2009 of possessing a controlled substance in jail and again in 2015 of possessing a firearm as a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

The alleged spree started on May 2 when O'Neal "became angry" because a man "appeared to look at him".

Police said they arrested O'Neal because he matched witnesses' descriptions of a man with red ahir and facial tattoos and security footage. Two stabbings, one near the Venice Beach Boardwalk, including one that left a victim in a pool of his own blood with wounds to his head. "Initially, the victim thought that the suspect (O'Neal) had merely 'punched him in the back, ' LAPD said in a statement". Surveillance video showed the suspect walking away shortly after the victim was found, police said. The victim sustained serious stab wounds and cuts to his face, neck and upper body.

On May 5 at about 4 p.m., investigators said a suspect also fitting O'Neal's description brandished a folding knife at an employee of a coffee shop on Pacific and Windward avenues.

As for the May 8 robbery, Redmond has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

O'Neal is the only son of actors Ryan O'Neal, a star of TV and film, and Farrah Fawcett, the '70s icon and model whose acting career skyrocketed after her role in "Charlie's Angels". His father, Ryan O'Neal still acts - his most recent work was teaming up Love Story (1970 release) co-star Ali MacGraw in a stage play called Love Letters, in 2016.
