Prince Harry and Meghan's first major royal tour confirmed

The event was attended by other senior royals including the Queen, Prince Charles and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, did not take part today, in line with his retirement from public life a year ago.

The Queen's actual birthday is April 21.

While Harry and Meghan's premier tour has caused a buzz of excitement in the worldwide media, fears have been raised about the couple's desire to start a family as soon as possible.

On Saturday, Meghan was pictured wearing a pale pink dress with matching hat, while Harry was in military uniform. More than 1,000 soldiers and 250 horses traveled down the Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horseguards Parade with members of the Royal Family in carriages.

At 1pm, the royals gathered on the balcony for the RAF flypast featuring 23 modern and historic planes, Meghan taking centre stage. As part of the day's pomp, almost 1,000 soldiers march to Horse Guards Parade and the Royal Air Force performs a flyover (which the royals famously watch each year from the balcony at Buckingham Palace).

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were among the ranks, but Prince Louis was a no-show and is unlikely to be seen before his christening, tipped to be next month. Flaunting an attractive hat from Philip Treacy, the 36-year-old swapped her signature messy bun with a shiny blowout.

"As the founder of the Invictus Games, the Duke of Sussex has become a champion for war veterans around the world, including in Australia. They will go on, and good luck to them, long after we are a republic".

Harry and Meghan's first major tour as husband and wife will be in October as part of Harry's Commonwealth Youth Ambassador role.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have confirmed they will make an official visit to Australia during the Invictus Games in October.
