Navarro: Trump Correcting Trade Imbalances with Japan, Germany, Canada

US President Donald Trump has left following his brief trip to Canada saying his relationship with the G7 countries is a 10 out of 10, and reports of rifts between the powerful countries are simply "fake news".

The G7 joint communique, which advocates a "rules-based trading system", was reached despite tension over USA tariffs on steel and aluminium imports, reported BBC. Trump said that retaliation is a "mistake", according to Trudeau. "And we charge nothing", Trump said.

According to a report by the Independent, the joint communique stated that the G7 nations need to evaluate worldwide trade rules and develop new ones, if necessary, going forward to ensure an equal trading playing field. Officials say Canada and Mexico have proposed member nations gather every five years to review the treaty.

Trump's apparent threat to end US trade deals with top allies came as he feuded with French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other leaders over the trade war he instigated late last month.

As he prepared to travel to Canada, he ramped up his blast of Canada on Twitter this morning over what he says are unfair trade practices.

The president went into the meeting under intense pressure from foreign leaders after he slapped high tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, citing US national security needs.

"What we did this weekend, was come together, roll up our sleeves and figure out consensus language that we could all agree to on a broad range of issues". Expressing his frustration, Trump said, " Can't do that.

"We're like the piggy bank that everybody's robbing, and it ends", Mr. Trump told reporters at a press conference at the end of the meeting, just before he jets off to Singapore to meet with North Korea's leader.

Such a move could make it almost impossible to renegotiate the terms of the 1994 NAFTA pact between the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Later, Trump will fly to Singapore where he is set to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on June 12.

The EU said it will impose the "rebalancing" tariffs on about $3.3 billion (2.8 billion euros) worth of USA steel, bourbon, agricultural products including sweet corn, orange juice, cranberries and certain clothing made of cotton.

Trump earlier had criticised India over high tariffs on Harley- Davidson.

Copies of the communique stamped with "approuve", or approved in French, were being circulated around the G-7 media center in Quebec City as Trump made his order on Twitter.

He said unleashing retaliatory measures "is not something I relish doing" but that he wouldn't hesitate to do so because "I will always protect Canadian workers and Canadian interests". Earlier in the day, G7 countries announced they had raised more than $3.8 billion in an effort with other countries to send the world's poorest girls to school.

Just hours after issuing a series of aggressive messages about global trade and Canadian dairy practices, Donald Trump has arrived in Quebec to attend some of the G7 summit - his first visit to Canada as USA president.

Trump also targeted Canada's auto and dairy industries.

"Looking forward to straightening out unfair Trade Deals with the G-7 countries".
