Man killed in stabbing attack on Japan bullet train

Man Arrested Over Deadly Japan Stabbing Spree

In Japan a man with a knife attacked passengers high-speed trains, resulting in one person was killed and two were injured, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to RBC-Ukraine.

Odawara police official Satoshi Oiye said the suspect admitted to police that he had attacked the passengers. Doctors say the injuries to the 2 women are not life-threatening.

According to the Kanagawa Prefectural Police, Kojima started by allegedly attacking the woman sitting next to him, before proceeding to attack a woman on the other side of the aisle.

Police detained the suspect after storming the carriage when the vehicle stopped at Odawara station.

Police quoted Kojima as saying he was just ticked off and wanted to kill someone and that anyone would do.

Witnesses said passengers were in tears as they attempted to flee in panic.

A female passenger told NHK: "Everyone fled and fell like one domino falling after another".

After being hospitalized for an undisclosed mental illness, he started working for a machinery maintenance firm in April 2015 but quit in February the following year.

The attack took place in vehicle No. 12 of the 16-car train while it was between Shin-Yokohama and Odawara stations, both in Kanagawa.

"I have always been anxious about him", the woman said in a telephone interview with Kyodo News early Sunday.

The attack occurred on Saturday night, when the train operated by Central Japan Railway was traveling west in Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo.

He talked about suicidal thoughts before running away, she said. The train was carrying more than 800 passengers at the time of the incident.
