Huawei Mate 20 Pro to use a 6.9-inch Samsung OLED display

Huawei is making a phone even bigger than the iPhone X Plus or Galaxy Note 9

The report said Huawei, China's largest smartphone maker with more than 20 percent market share, may have made a decision to play it bigger with aims to take an edge in the burgeoning premium market at home where consumers prefer bigger-screen phones to scribble complicated Chinese characters. Most phones are opting for a taller 18:9 aspect ratio now instead of the older 16:9 displays, which helps quite a bit for usability, and I'd expect Huawei to utilize all of this to make a phone that's actually still usable.

Samsung is supposedly manufacturing 6.9-inch screens for an unnamed Huawei device, according to Korean-language site The Bell.
The screen is rigid, therefore not flexible like the OLED screen in the iPhone X. That means a 6.9-inch Huawei phone will probably have the same notch-and-chin design as the Huawei P20 Pro models, and like every other iPhone X clone out there.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 9 is expected to come with a 6.38-inch screen, while one of the three new iPhones later this year is rumored to feature a 6.46-inch screen.

Based on existing reports, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are believed to be announced by the end of October this year. Chinese consumers prefer handsets with a large display so this makes sense for Huawei to target the Mate 20 at them. These two phones, along with the Pixel 3 XL, will set the trend for big-screen devices later this year, and Huawei doesn't want to miss out on being able to say it has the largest screen when compared to the competition.

Presumably, the new gadget will get to 6.9 inch screen. It will be the Huawei Mate 20, the successor to the Mate 10. Do you want to see a triple camera like on the P20 Pro? We'll know more as 2018 progresses, and also discover whether Huawei is planning to use this screen on a Mate phone, or an entirely new line altogether.
