Elon Musk Just Predicted Exactly When Tesla Stock Will Rebound

The Prince of Wales is preparing to add an electric vehicle to the royal fleet after making friends with the brother of Elon Musk, founder of Tesla. While a spokesman declined to comment, an employee who asked not to be identified confirmed he received the email.

The company is investigating whether the employee "was working with any outside organizations", the email said.

The Electrek blog, which covers electric cars and other alternative transportation industries, said on Saturday that Musk told Tesla employees that the company is now producing 3,500 Model 3 cars a week and that he intends to stay "almost 24/7 for the next several days" at Tesla's Fremont plant to ensure any remaining production bottlenecks are eliminated. However, the Tesla CEO also suggested the alleged saboteur could have been working with short sellers, oil and gas companies-whom he described as "sometimes not super nice"-or "the multitude of big gas/diesel auto company competitors".

He characterized the fire as "another odd incident that was hard to explain" and suggested it may have been deliberate.

"Could just be a random event, but as Andy Grove said, "Only the paranoid survive", Mr Musk wrote on Monday, referring to the former chairman and CEO of Intel Corp.

Short-sellers have been betting against the electric vehicle manufacturer for months, and many saw the company's recent announcement that it plans to lay off 9 percent its 46,000-person workforce as a sign that Tesla needed cash.

It will be interesting to see if this leak has any actual effect on the company as it pushes towards its goal of 5,000 Model 3's per week by the end of the quarter.

This isn't the first time Musk has made a bold prediction about his company's stock-he predicted the "short burn of the century" last month before purchasing about 72,000 Tesla shares for himself-but it is the first time he's given a timeline.

The Model 3 AWD performance features a dual-motor setup similar to the larger Model S sedan; one motor is said to focus on range, while the other focuses on performance.
