Duo leave Liverpool as Can nears Juventus deal

Emre Can

Liverpool on Friday confirmed that Germany midfielder Emre Can and England defender Jon Flanagan will be leaving the club in the summer upon the expiry of their respective contracts.

Liverpool have confirmed the departure of German global Emre Can, as a move to Serie A champions Juventus looms.

Goal confirmed reports Can has agreed a four-year contract to join Serie A champion Juventus, as the Italian giants gear up to try to capture an eighth straight league title, though the deal has yet to be announced.

During that time, the Germany global made 166 first team appearances. Meanwhile Joachim Löw has chosen to use him as a right back for Germany, although he has missed out on this summer's World Cup squad.

Flanagan's contract had not been due to expire for another year.

The departures were announced in Liverpool's Premier League released and retained statement which also confirmed the club would be letting go of youth players Toni Gomes, Paulo Alves, Mich'el Parker, Jordan Williams, Anthony Glennon, Jordan Hunter and Harvey Whyte.
