Brawl breaks out between parents at softball tournament in Tennessee

Watch: Parents brawl at youth softball tournament

A brawl between parents erupted at a youth softball game with half a dozen adults throwing punches and rolling around on the ground.

Todd McLemore with Kingsport's Parks and Recreation Department said a verbal confrontation between two sets of spectators escalated into a chaotic brawl after someone got pushed.

"The Cardinals had won a game prior to this fight and they were supposed to play the victor of Blue Ridge and (another team)", Mr McLemore said. "And then all chaos broke out".

"The teams were there for a 12-and-under tournament sponsored by USA Softball", New York Post reports.

Tournament director Tina Gale says both teams involved in the fight were from North Carolina and immediately disqualified from the tournament and escorted out of the ballpark.

Gale said local administrators with USA Softball are still investigating this incident but as of right now both teams have been removed from any future tournaments.

"I've done this for 10 years and never once had a physical altercation".

"This was the first and hopefully the last". "We run a very clean organization, we run good tournaments, but unfortunately it happened on our dime and we don't take things like this lightly".
