After "difficult" G7 summit, UK's May warns against unilateral action on trade

Donald Trump calls Justin Trudeau dishonest

Earlier on Sunday, the last day of the G7 summit, Navarro had said, "There's a special place in hell for any foreign leader that engages in bad faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door".

The G7 summit came after the Trump administration made a decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the European Union (EU), Canada and Mexico, which had drawn strong opposition from the domestic business community and US major trading partners. Yet, the trouble with Trump persisted on nearly all other issues, including climate change, with Trump refusing to endorse by implication the 2015 Paris climate change accord, as well as on his trade war policies that he has introduced against the EU, Canada and Mexico.

Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, suggested that Trump saw Trudeau as trying to weaken his hand before the summit with Kim.

Prime Minister Trudeau on the other hand, did not balk at the statements but instead remained professional and mature - which is to be expected from a leader of one of the most respected and democratic countries in the world. Trump tweeted on Saturday. PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, US Tariffs were kind of insulting and he will not be pushed around.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro on Tuesday apologized for making inappropriate comments attacking Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In response to the massive steel and aluminium tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, Canada which is one of the largest exporters of the same spoke out against the exorbitant duties.

Heyman waged a campaign on Twitter to persuade Navarro to apologize by saying he was contacting USA politicians about his remarks.
