A New Era Begins In This Retro Pic From Wonder Woman 1984

Wonder Woman Sequel Gets Title Shocking First Look

"The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you're really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie", Jenkins said.

The "Wonder Woman" sequel is officially titled "Wonder Woman 1984", a nod to the film's new period setting. We'll no doubt be back with more detailed thoughts soon, but until then, we have our first images from next year's Wonder Woman 84 (for that appears to be its official title) to chew on. Principal photography is underway on Warner Bros.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the follow up to the 2017 sensation that grossed $822 million at the box office and received widespread critical acclaim.

The director has also confirmed Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids) will be playing Wonder Woman's nemesis Cheetah in the sequel.

Besides, Steve frickin' Trevor is back, back, back, and while his welcome return may defy logic, there's no denying Chris Pine's chemistry with Gadot. Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Walter Hamada, and Geoff Johns are executive producers.

Jenkins has also previously stated that she's looking forward to being able to fully unleash Wonder Woman's power in the sequel without having to establish her history by telling her origin story. Oscar-nominated editor Ricahrd Pearson (United 93) is editing the film.

Filming for Wonder Woman 1984 is taking place in Washington D.C., Alexandria, Virginia, and in the UK, Spain, a d the Canary Islands.

Wonder Woman 2 is now set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
