5 things we learned from Anthem's E3 2018 presentation

The biggest gaming conference E3 - Electronic Entertainment Expo- kicked off in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Anthem closed out this year's EA Play press conference with extensive details on the project's single-player credentials, world building, and story being revealed.

This year's E3 will be EA's chance to reinvigorate enthusiasm in their household franchises, as well as prove to gamers that their upcoming games will be worth purchasing despite their many past mistakes. While no footage was shown, the idea of a battle royale mode made by Battlefield developer DICE was exciting enough to elicit a cacophony of cheers from the conference room.

They will also get early access to Madden 19, Federation Internationale de Football Association 19, Battlefield V and Anthem. Users have to sport armours called Javelins to continue with the missions in a hostile world. It'll bring all-new PC games - including Madden, FIFA 19, and Anthem for PC, as well as games from the EA's vault of available titles on Origin. While no screens or clips were shown, during a casual conversation, the game's producer revealed that Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order will be set between Episode III and IV.

Speaking about a Anthem beta release date, he added: "Remember, we are still a distance out".

The player is a person known as a Freelancer, someone who goes out into the world and fights the enemies of humanity.

Speaking of the story, it does seem familiar to another game, Destiny.

While you can play solo, you will need an online connection to play.

Continuing to invest in its EA Originals indie publishing initiative, EA revealed a striking-looking new indie game.

One of the big questions about Anthem has always been how BioWare will fit its usual penchant for grand, player-centric stories into a multiplayer-focused experience. Put on your Javelin suit, boost out into the wilderness, and you can team up with other players again. More's the pity. Citadel was ace, though, so if there's a breath of that sort of camaraderie in Anthem we might get to enjoy some of that BioWare magic after all. The release date of the PlayStation 4, XBox One and PC title is potentially February 19, 2019.
